If you are a money making webmaster or an Internet marketer, then you know how important backlinks are in getting your site ranked for certain keyword. And if you have been around for a while in this game, then you know that the link building methods that worked like charm in the past (sitewide links for example) don’t work anymore.
You scour the net to find new ways to build links and bump into link building methods that are being used by every single average Joe. For example, following link building methods are being used widely these days by site owners and Internet marketers in an attempt to build backlinks and to boost search engine rankings:
Directory Submission
Article Submission
Forum Posting (with signature)
Dofollow Blog Commenting
Social Bookmarking
Link Exchange
Press Release, etc.
If you do what every other link builder is doing, what gives you the competitive edge? How in the world you get ranked high for your term competing with all the other sites out there?
Well, there is a solution around. There always is a method that is new and not many people know about it yet, or at least not many are taking advantage of it to the full extent. So what is that magic link building method that can give you the competitive edge?
Social Media and Web 2.0 marketing
There are lots of social media and web 2.0 sites where you can setup accounts and publish your articles. Some of the good sites which will offer you dofollow backlinks are briefly described below.
Squidoo.com (PR8 homepage): Squidoo is a social site where you can sign up for an account and publish an article which is called a lens. There are several modules within Squidoo and some of them you don’t need to worry about to begin with. All you have to do is to write an article with 3-5 paragraphs and add each paragraph under a separate module. For your page/lens to be considered as complete by Squidoo, you need to have at least 3 module lens but it is suggested that you get a lens with around 500 words of unique text and divide them into 5 paragraphs to make 5 separate modules. You can use your anchor text to link back to your site and then publish your lens. There you go, you now got a high quality relevant backlink from the Squidoo page to your own site.
HubPages.com (PR6 homepage): HubPages works pretty much same way as Squidoo but there is a catch to get a dofollow backlink from your hub. Basically you write an article on HubPages with your anchor text link and publish, but your hub will not be dofollow till your hub account gets a hubscore of 75. Once you get a score of 75 (its your own personal hubscore that shows on the right column, not the individual hubscore), your hub(s) turn to dofollow.
How to get a hubscore of 75+ you ask?
Not very hard actually. You build backlinks to your hub to get a dofollow link form there. You can submit your hub to social bookmarking sites, submit your hub RSS feed to RSS engines and directories, and update your hub on an occasional basis. That’s all there is to it. More hub you add on your account, better your ranking will be.
Qassia.com (PR5 homepage): Link building with Qassia will not be discussed here in detail. You can read the older post for details on how to benefit from Qassia.
These are some social pages we talked about. Now lets look at some web 2.0 sites from you can get dofollow backlinks.
Blogger.com (PR8 homepage): you can get a free blog with blogger. All you have to do is to publish a single post with your anchor text pointing back to your site, that’s all. It is advised that you add articles on an occasional basis, even one article a month to keep the content fresh so that search engine bots can make frequent visit.
Wordpress.com (PR9 homepage): Same concept applies here as blogger where you can publish articles with a free account and get backlinks.
Weebly.com (PR7 homepage): You can register an account and get a page at Weebly. If you need a blog, there is an option to get a blog there as well. One you are logged in to your dashboard, you will find option to create a new page or a blog. Why not get a page and a blog as well?
Xanga.com (PR7 homepage): Pretty simple. You can have a free blog where you can publish your article and get backlinks.
Flixya.com (PR5 homepage): With Flixya, you can upload and share your photos, videos, and get a blog published at the same time.
Tumblr.com (PR6 homepage): Pretty simple and easy to use interface where you can publish a blog page.
Well, now you got enough sites to get high quality backlinks from. There are lot of other social and web 2.0 sites as well but its virtually impossible to cover all on a single blog post. Some will be covered in future articles on our blog so stay tuned.
One important thing to keep in mind that you must publish unique articles on those sites for high quality backlinks. Some of the sites above will remove your post if you publish copied/duplicate content. Besides, your page will get flagged by Google for duplicate content so take some time to write unique posts and enjoy the benefits years to come.
If you don’t have the time to write content for the pages above, then you have the option to outsource your articles writing work as well. At SEOFocused.Com, we write unique copyscape passed articles at a very competitive price. Just take a look at our article writing packages and feel free to drop us a line if you have any custom need. We also create social and web 2.0 pages with unique content linking back to your site as well as promote those newly created pages to make sure that your post gets indexed in Google.
Lets go crazy and get some backlinks that adds some real value to our link building campaign. Best wishes.

Thank you so much. This info was just what I was after - I’ve experimented with Squidoo, have been put off by hubpages (but might now reconsider having read your assessment), had tried Gather but had found it not related to my niche and had then got stuck. Thank you again.
